Arrowhead Lakes is where I grew up, so this one is personal. It's a community in north Glendale built around a series of man-made lakes, and most of the homes sit right on the water. It feels like a quiet getaway, but you're minutes from shopping, restaurants and the freeway.

Life here revolves around the water. Many homes have waterfront backyards, and you'll often see neighbors out on the water. The community is known for its neighborhood events, like a holiday boat parade, and the HOA maintains the lakes and shared amenities.
What the homes are like
Most homes are single-family, with a mix of single-story and two-story floor plans. Lakefront homes usually cost more than homes off the water, and many have mountain views too. Because homes here don't come up for sale often, it helps to be ready to move quickly when the right one does.

Arrowhead Towne Center is close by for shopping and dining, and the surrounding Arrowhead area has several golf courses. The Loop 101 makes it easy to get across the West Valley or into Phoenix.
