Surprise has grown a lot in recent years, and much of its housing is newer construction. If you want a newer home with more space for your budget, Surprise is worth a look.
Living in Surprise
Surprise Stadium hosts MLB spring training for two teams every year, and the surrounding area has parks, a library and recreation facilities. The city also has several active-adult communities.
What the homes are like
The large majority of homes in Surprise are single-family homes, and many were built in the last 20 years. Many neighborhoods are part of master-planned communities with an HOA, so be sure to look at the fees and rules.
Getting around
Grand Avenue (US-60) and the Loop 303 are the main routes. Surprise is farther from central Phoenix than Glendale or Peoria, so think about your commute if you work downtown.
