Tucson is where I go to school, so I spend a lot of my time here and help buyers here too. It's more relaxed than Phoenix, surrounded by mountains, and homes generally cost less than in the Phoenix area.
Living in Tucson
Tucson has amazing outdoor spaces close by, including Sabino Canyon, Mount Lemmon and both districts of Saguaro National Park. Downtown, Fourth Avenue and the area around the University of Arizona have plenty of restaurants and shops, and the Sun Link streetcar connects campus, Fourth Avenue and downtown.
What the homes are like
Central Tucson has older, historic neighborhoods, the foothills have homes with mountain and city views, and the outer areas have newer suburban communities. Condos and townhomes near campus are popular with parents buying for a student.
Buying near the University of Arizona
If you're a parent thinking about buying a home for your student instead of renting, I wrote a full guide on it. Read it here.
